Happy birthday! (Well, late birthday, I guess.)

You're welcome! Glad the Royals got you a win.

Me too. But if you look at the jersey on my PBN logo, it's number 14. So it only makes sense Cags would show out on my birthday.

Good to see you back here, brother! And merry belated bday.

I really hope it doesn’t matter if Witt ends up playing on a last place team. The Astros are trash too (pun intended), so why should Yordon get the nod when Witt does more to contribute?

The “are they wasting his time” argument is always interesting. In NY, we’ve been having that talk for a decade now with Judge. I think it’s fair to say you want more playoff appearances (for Witt), thus a shot at the playoff crapshoot. But I have found a lot of joy in embracing the regular season, enjoying every at-bat Judge gets, and not worrying so much about legacy and championships.

It’s a different time (especially for Yankee fans) but the whole “needs to win a championship to be taken seriously” take is so tiring to me. Great players, in every sport, are looked favorably upon even if they didn’t win a title. It doesn’t always need to be a GOAT or not convo. Great to exceptional talent is still exciting, enjoyable, and worthwhile for fans.

Good to be back! Thanks for the birthday wishes, and I couldn't agree more. Winning a championship should be looked at like a cherry on top of a great player's career, and a lack of one shouldn't be viewed as a failure. I'm not sure a lot of people realize how hard winning a title is, especially in baseball, where there is a bigger disconnect between the regular season and postseason than ever. The expanded playoffs coupled with small sample sizes make it so flukey and unpredictable now, it's hard to hold a lack of success against any one player. Because of its length and tradition, especially regarding the pursuit of historical numbers, which took a hit during the steroid era but still matters, the regular season still means more in baseball than most sports, but I do feel like that has changed some in my lifetime. I hope it never becomes like the NBA, another sport I love, but primarily because of the postseason, because even NBA players don't seem to care about the regular season. It's just a grind to get through before the stuff that really matters. Unfortunately, I do sense MLB is gradually trending in that direction.
