I've written this on my blog, but in 1989, the Royals had the coolest baseball player on the planet. Not necessarily the best, but the coolest. That will probably never happen again.
Totally true, and it feels like you're probably right. And as much as I want good teams again, I would settle for the coolest player in the meantime. Not sure which feels more unlikely at the moment though.
It's a fair criticism. I loved Charlie Ward the basketball player. The football player? Well, maybe we shouldn't dredge up old stuff on here. But I needed a baseball connection, and I don't believe he ever played baseball. That's the only reason I left him out, I swear. 1993 had nothing to do with it.
I stand corrected. Didn't realize he was drafted, you know, since he never actually played the sport. But probably not a bad lottery ticket pick in the late rounds. No argument that he was elite. Although Shawn Wooden still knocked down his last pass in 93. I can never let you forget that.

Bro how you gonna have a conversation about 2 sport athletes and NOT mention the legend Charlie Ward. That appears to be bias to me!!!!!

I mean drafted twice, he was elite. Heisman winner, Nebraska killer, elite 8, did it all.
