My pleasure! Anxiety has a way of making you feel isolated, but writing this article and seeing all the feedback has been a great reminder that a lot of us struggle with this, to some degree or another. And in a weird way, that's oddly reassuring. Thanks for reading!
I fear that what progress we have made on mental health protocols might backslide along with so many other things in this country, the way things have been going. As if I need something else to worry about. LOL.
Thanks for the kind words though. Writing a baseball column may not change the world, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going to try and make it count, and it's extremely rewarding when people let you know it resonates with them. I suspect you get where I'm coming from more than most.
Thanks for sharing and posting this great article. I've read several articles about Greinke and he is an original character. Hope he will get selected to the Baseball HOF as a Royal.
I'm so glad that, despite the dumpster-fire status of the Royals' organization in 2006, they were understanding of Greinke's issues and helped him figure out what he needed. He should definitely be in the Hall, and he should definitely have a KC cap on.
Thank you! I hated to see Greinke go, but trading him laid the groundwork for the Royals' run in 14-15, and if he had to go anywhere else, Milwaukee was one of my preferred landing spots. I was really hoping he and the Brewers would win it all. They got relatively close, but just couldn't quite get over the hump.
Thank you so much for this! Excellent article revealing the struggle that some of us go through.

Good to know you don’t want to just watch the world burn 🤪
Love the Greinke story, especially the Royals’ side of it. To this day, too many employers don’t have the proper protocols in place for mental health.
Your mission to write meaningfully resonates with me, too. Probably a big reason we enjoy each other’s work!
Rock and roll, brother. Rock and roll 🎸

Thanks for reading, Ed. I hope so too!

Nothing but agreement on all counts.
Great post! Love Greinke when he was with the Dodgers and Brewers.
