Patrick,

So good to read your new post, had been missing your post. Like your thoughts on what you want to do with the future. Just like reading about baseball, so whatever scratches you want to address, go for it.

The Royals should improve on their poor performance in 2023 with their new additions. Probably won't claim the division, but shouldn't be in cellar either. Haven't heard anything else about the new stadium, have they voted on a tax increase to support this or not? I don't think they had made a final decision on location either, though had narrowed down to two possible places.

I'm so happy that MLB baseball is about to start. Can't wait to see how the new pitching staff for the Braves will do. Three lefties and three righties coming out of the bullpen. Two left handed starters and three righties. A great mix of talented arms, powerful bats and speed. Sounds like on paper they should win their division for the 7th year in row and now have the arms to win the NL Playoffs.

Hope you're doing well and enjoyed a couple months off from this grind. Are you still writing for the Royals as well? Let's play ball.

Thanks Ed! Glad to be able to talk baseball with you again too. I'm still writing 4-5 articles a month for Kings of Kauffman. To answer a couple of your questions on the stadium issue— they have chosen a site in the Crossroads district, and it goes to a vote in early April. I really don't know if it will pass or not.

I think everyone assumed it would because it's linked to the Chiefs renovation plan of Arrowhead, and the Chiefs are so good right now they can basically get whatever they want. And that may still prove true, but their part of the deal was so uninspired that it might actually be the Chiefs who tank it.

The Royals' stadium plan looks better, but aside from business owners and others who don't want to see the Crossroads taken over, there's a fair amount of pushback for other reasons. I don't live in Jackson County, so I don't get a say at the polls. However, I'm not against a downtown stadium, as much as I love the K, but I wish they'd slow down just a little bit. This whole thing has felt unnecessarily rushed and chaotic and poorly planned. The best thing would probably be a no vote just so they could go back to the drawing board and see if they can do it better, but the Chiefs, in particular, have hinted they'll look elsewhere if it gets voted down. I don't think it's anywhere close to the point where either team will be looking at moving to Oakland or anything that drastic, but it could put other areas of the metro, including the KS side in play.
