Fun read Patrick! I'm afraid the evil empire NY will win the East 😢 I agree that the Central could be a toss up but hope the Royals can pull it off. I do like Texas in the West. I'm excited that the season has got started, but the Braves have had a brutal start with their West Coast swing to open the season. I hope they can find their bats and get back to full strength.
Thanks for the shoutout! Reading this confirms what I said to you last time — I have no effing idea who’s good in the AL. For a good chunk of my life, the AL was the dominant league. Idk when it exactly shifted but I think it’s clear the NL is superior right now. Maybe that’ll make the AL more fun? Idk. Very interested to see how things shake out this year though and my gut tells me it’ll be a lot of young players breaking out who lead their teams to the playoffs. Kinda like Witt and the Royals last season!
My pleasure! The AL being so wide open is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it gives me confidence the Royals can definitely have some success. On the other, it reminds me everyone is so close and jumbled, that it won't necessarily be easy to break out of the pack.
Yeah. That’s what I keep wondering. Is the jumbled mess fun or is it what the name implies and does it lead to more frustration 😂. I guess we find out starting tomorrow!
It'll be fun either way because baseball is back. And speaking as a Royals fan, it wouldn't be baseball season if there wasn't at least some frustration involved.
I agree with the picks, but there’s a part of me that knows the Astros are going to somehow win their division, regardless of all the changes they’ve went through.
It certainly wouldn't surprise me, but I do think their overall ceiling has been lowered. So it probably comes down to whether Texas and/or Seattle can put some space between themselves and Houston. If not, and it comes down to the wire, I wouldn't bet against the Astros.
Yeah, I just think about even last year where Seattle had a HUGE lead in the division, and Houston looked to be completely done. And then Seattle blew the division in record time, and the Astros went back to being dominant (as usual). As someone who’s a bit sick of Houston and their excellence, I hope that isn’t the case this year, but I’m definitely wary.
Seattle is a bit cursed. On a smaller scale, if they hadn't given up an epic comeback to KC early in the year (the second year in a row they did that, I believe), they would have taken the Royals' WC spot, which might have taken away some of the sting from blowing the division. I don't have a lot of faith in the Mariners coming through this year either, but I am expecting Texas to be much improved.

Very true! Poor Seattle. That was an awesome comeback for the Royals though, so I won’t complain!
