Dang I can hear the entire Texas state fuming at the Texas hate in this article

Haha. Probably not the first time I've said something to annoy Texas. They'll get over it.

Brewers, Royals, Expos. Cardinals are solid enough but never really made sense.

They really shouldn't work, and the Cardinals-hating part of me doesn't want to like them, but I can't help it. I just think they click.

How about Lonnie Smith steal a base for the Cardinals. Vince Coleman didn't play for the Cards until '85.

You're right, of course. I meant that just seeing the uniforms evokes that whole Whiteyball era for me, even if a lot of it actually happened after they stopped wearing the blues, but yeah, I should have went for Lonnie as the example. Good catch.

Fun stuff, Patrick! Can't argue with much...any ranking changes I'd make would be minimal. Needless to say, about halfway through, I began rifling though my memories, and quickly realized the Astros never succumbed to the powder! I guess the constant pallet of yellows and oranges shoved away any semblance of a shade lighter than the navy they sometimes employed!

I've often thought of doing a similar ranking for 'Stros unis, in general, but I'd rather wait for your presentation! That said, I'd be game to add my dos centavos to an Astros uni piece when you get to it! Give a holler, yo!

Yeah, the 'Stros never danced with powder blue, but I can't hold it against them because their 80's uniforms were so great in their own right. Their current look is good too, albeit far more conventional. I was never a big fan of their 90's-early 2000's uniforms, but the Tequila Sunrise unis from the 80's are still the first thing I think of when anybody brings up the Astros. Definitely deserving of attention on their own, but I'm still annoyed Houston didn't break them out to match the Phillies' powder blues in last year's World Series!

I think the '90s/Bidge'n'Bagwell silver'n'blue/open star look was my least favorite. I know their brick/sand/black change in the early 2000s (that they wore in the '05 WS) was A fave of mine....is that the one you're talking about? What would be fun is to have some sort of graphic design person dummy up a powder blue look (for any of the 'Stro unis), just for grins.

I was looking at a '22 WS highlight video yesterday that I'll be including in an Opening Day article, and noticed/was reminded the Phils donned their powder blues in at least one game. I don't care how tacky or hideous, I wanna see a powder blue 'Stro uni (at least on paper)! The mind boggles.....and, hurts just a little bit!

I'm fully on board for that experiment. No guts, no glory! And I was thinking more of the 90's look. I never cared much for those uniforms, but ironically, I really liked those teams. Biggio and Bagwell were both two of my favorite non-Royals players of that era.
